"Continuum" is a film project by Sofia Mattioli. The filmmaker created a two-minute silent, abstract short with her iPhone. Then, she asked Four Tet, Jamie xx, John Talabot, and Koreless to each compose a two-minute piece of music for the film. You can download all the songs above.

Mix 9: Drift

This mix is all about the relaxation that the summer months provide. Living in the 21st century, we get very rare occasions to exercise this right. So hopefully listening to these tracks in the dark is the equivalent of visiting you favorite river, peak, beach, or meadow for the day.

The mix starts with the Japanese folk song "Koku". This song is believed to be written by a priest named Kyochiku in the early 12th century. One day Kyochiku was meditating at the temple in Nara. In his dream he was drifting in a boat; suddenly the thick mist rolled down the sky and blocked his view of the moon. While this happened, he heard the moving melody of flute music. He then reached for his favorite bamboo flute to accompany the ethereal melody.
