Broken Fingaz

New works from Tant of Broken Fingaz:

Mark Dean Veca

Mark Dean Veca has a show coming up in Los Angeles, "When the Shit Hits the Fan". Mark had a show at UCSD when I was there and I was blown away. I suggest if you are in the LA area to go check it out.
It opens Sept 18th at Western Projects in Culver City. Here's a sample:

You might recognize Eric from all his shows on Comedy Central's Adult Swim. The last couple days I have been watching his music videos and I have been fairly impressed. They range from sad to creepy, to downright mesmerizing. Well I hope you get as much entertainment out of them as I do:

Kiler in the Park

That Bangs video made me reminisce over a fine little singer songwriter named Icy Spicy Leoncie:

Icy Spicy Leoncie self described "LEONCIE is a Musical Wizard and her musical work is that of a Staggering Genius. Many say that.
She's an awesome entertainer full of surprises and does'nt give a damn for Useless Lying Jealous Critics and won't allow anyone to force her to be what they want and Lord it's been tried. Leoncie's got her own Individual Identity in Music which makes her Outstanding and Evergreen.
Her Original Fresh music is a lovely range of aggressive and yet soul touching sensual melodies, which is a Stunning blend of Rock, Blues, Jazz, Soul,Powerpop fusion, combined with beautiful sounds from all over the world, like India, Europe, America, Country Western, creating an enormous musical package which leaves her audiences spellbound. "

Sorry, but I will make it up with some Bangs

Sorry for leaving any one who reads this (probably 2 people) hanging for so long.
Well a roomate showed me this video. It was nominated for the worst rap video of all time. The problem I have with it is that if lil'wayne did this exact song it would be a number one hit. O'well, sorry Sudan. It is pretty funny/entertaining though:

Don't hassle the Hoff

Ronnie sent me this little gem. He knows I have been a Hoff fan since I met him back in 2005.
I kind of feel bad posting this video. That is how bad this production is. Well, enjoy what you can:

Calma

A group of us discovered Stephan Doitschinoff "Calma" at the Museum of Contemporary Art in downtown San Diego this past weekend. I was blown away by his work. Andrea found this little tiddy on the web. Enjoy:

More stop motion fun.

I notice more and more graffiti artists are reminiscing and playing with stop motion/cartooning to create videos. It seems like they could produce the same images with computers but the presence of the art in real time and space gives it living feeling you can not get from computers.

“Turn the speakers on and watch the movie in HD Quality. Four month exhausting hard work in an abonded area, no sun just artificial light. The final result, a stop motion movie with no digital effects at all, everything is handmade. About 5000 pictures are processed with an average by 15 pictures per second. The music is by Pretty Lights from Denver, Colorado, thanks Derek!” – QuintessenzCreation

hip hop is power

I have been contemplating this statement for a while. I have heard it a lot too in the graffiti world. That graffiti and hip hop are empowering. I see evidence of this the more I think about it. I think you can see this dynamic simply by investigating the hierarchies of these cultures. Supporters of these cultures usually come from the poeple with the least amount of power or voice and the antagonists of these cultures usually come from the people with the most power.
Here is one quick example:

Danny MaCaskill

This is technically mountain biking, but here in the US it looks a lot like bmx, with more skill.

Enter the Dubstep

Just picked this album up. Really feeling it. Wu-Tang always delivers.
I have been flirting with dubstep for a while, and I think they have some good flavors. For me the hard part was finding an album that wasn't so "transe". But when you find a wu-tang dubstep album you get excited. Hope you guys start to enjoy this genre in the US too.

Beef Stew All-Stars

Growing up I used to love baseball cards. On a recent trip home I looked through some of these cards and it brought to my attention something about baseball that has always been there, people you would never think are professional athletes are... in the MLB. Some of these portraits are just mesmerizing.
Anyways, you be the judge. Who is your favorite All-Star?
This whole subject has lead me to want to make a new t-shirt of my favorite Beef Stew All-Star. Keep your eyed posted for that.

The low down on Graffiti

I have been looking for this video for a long time. It pretty much sums everything up to someone who doesn't know much about this subject:

From Toy to King from kreisone on Vimeo.

LSD no hitter

Speaking of cartoons.
I found this cartoon on-line of Doc Ellis. He tells the story of when he through a no-hitter against the Padres. Awesome all around:

The people that brought you this, No Mas, also did a ditty about one of my favorite artists, James Brown:

Gorillaz, Plastic Beach

Jamie Hewlett is one of my favorite cartoonists of all time. He created Tank Girl and is the artist for the cartoon band Gorillaz.
Gorillaz are coming out with a new album, Plastic Beach, and are going to be performing at Coachella, in the meantime:

New artists, well at least to me.

First off we have Fever Ray, who comes to us by ways of The Knife. I have been a big fan for a long time. This solo album is probably the best I have heard all year. She is an artist through and through and you can see it in her videos.

Here is an awesome video she collaborated with Royksopp:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4iLkZMCZNmc

My second favorite album so far has been from Little Dragon:

I found this on an artists blog. His name is So-Me. He does the cover art for Justice and some others on Ed Banger's record label. I can't find this group anywhere else on the web. If you find out, let me know:

I just downloaded the new release from The XX:

Andrea and I have been really into Fela Kuti ever since we saw a rendition of one of his songs on Colbert. Another artist who went all out:

Now for the Hip Hoppers,
Just a classic, no diggity, no doubt. I have a feeling Dr.Dre's music will be around for a long time:

Of all the groups that fuze jazz and hip hop, A Tribe Called Quest definitly does it best:

This one has just been stuck in my head, downloaded the single, don't have the album though. Damien Marley. I heard he has an album coming out with NaS:

This one is just hilarious. Diplo is the producer for MIA. He has a new group called Major Lazor, not such a big fan but some might like it. Well I like the video at least:

Major Lazer "Keep it Going Louder" from Eric Wareheim on Vimeo.

Thats it for today. Should have more soon.

Fall Quarter Project

Thought I should just post this because the address is long. This was my Fall statistical programming project. It is an interactive data visualization of "Digg.com". It represents the 100 most popular articles right now. If you allow pop-up windows for my site you can click on the buttons and articles and you will be taken to the article. Also it helps viewing the page on a larger screen, laptops might cut most of the page off. This project was done with my friend and fellow roadie Alex Steiner. Hope you like.

Hello Internets

Hello all,
I decided to create a blog. Why? I wanted to create a filter for the internet. I feel I find interesting things all the time, but I don't want to email a list of people about it, especially if it is a stupid video. So, I decided to blog about the stuff I find interesting.
I am assuming this blog will mostly be filled with music, art, video and the ocassionally interesting article that I think people should check out.
Well, I hope you guys find this interesting.
